I have been living in the Washington, DC area since 1986. I have a degree in Architectural History from the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia. In addition to my work in architectural history, I studied a great deal of art history, mainly focusing on European works. Over the years, I have developed a love and appreciation of design and photography, in addition to spending a lot of time in my youth as a singer in professional choruses. For three years, I studied at the Arlington Artists Alliance Academy. I was working with Cynthia Gilmour. Beginning in the spring, I started taking classes at The Art League School in Alexandria, VA. As painting is a hobby still for me, I do the best I can to "squeeze" it in. I've recently converted part of our guest room into a home studio, so now I can paint more at home, which is wonderful. In my "other" life, I run a consulting firm, Capital Development Strategies, and we work with nonprofit organizations helping them to be stronger and better organizations. I live in Arlington, VA with my partner of 19 years, Jim Orrell, and our golden retriever Jackson. We travel a lot together, and every summer, we go to Mount Desert Island in Maine, from which I gathered a lot of my inspiration.
